According to Via Satellite, the “10 Companies to Watch” list “must watch” companies that provide satellite communications, ground equipment, manufacturing, imaging and sensing, and launch services. The list is selected by Via Satellite’s editorial team based on activity planned for the year, metrics such as market share, innovative technology, significant deals, and industry-wide
expectations. Over the past five years, SpaceX, OneWeb, Planet, ICEYE, Spire, Astroscale, Virgin Orbit, Mynaric, and other global companies that lead the space industry in their respective fields have been selected. Warpspace was named this year, alongside fast-rising launcher Rocket Lab and innovative earth-observing satellite operator Pixxel.
Warpspace is a Japanese start-up company that is developing the world’s first private optical communication network service for artificial satellites “WarpHub InterSat”. Three relay satellites capable of optical communication transfer data sent from other satellites to the ground station quickly and with high capacity. We aim to have the service ready by 2025. In recent years, the number of artificial satellites for earth observation has increased explosively. By using “WarpHub InterSat”, it will be possible to acquire and use more earth observation data in a near real-time manner. We will contribute to economic realization.
In the summer of 2022, Warpspace has signed an MoU with Synspective, a provider of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) solutions, with a view to using WarpHub InterSat in the SAR satellite constellation that the company is building. . In addition, in January 2023, as an important progress in the development of the first satellite constellation of this service, we decided to adopt Mynaric’s optical communication terminal Condor Mk3. The company has also announced that it will provide Condor series terminals for critical missions of the US Space Development Agency (SDA) and the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Comment from Hirokazu Mori, Chief Strategy Officer and CEO of Warpspace USA: “I am very honored that our company was selected as one of the 10 companies to watch out for by Via Satellite, a major magazine in the space industry. Among them, our data relay service using optical communication for the purpose of promptly transmitting earth observation data to the ground is attracting attention in the industry. I am very pleased.”
