Adopted for Iki City’s employment opportunity expansion project -Toward the formation of smart agriculture production areas such as asparagus cultivation-
Routrek Networks Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Shinichi Sasaki; hereinafter referred to as “our company”) has established a “specified We are pleased to inform you that we have been selected for the project of Iki City in FY2023 under the Manned Border Remote Island Community Maintenance Promotion Subsidy -Employment Opportunity Expansion Project-.

overview
The Employment Opportunity Expansion Project is aimed at developing an environment that enables sustainable living in specific inhabited border remote island areas (*1). By subsidizing part of the business fund, we are trying to expand employment opportunities in the specific inhabited border remote island area.
Based on soil sensor information and weather information, our company uses AI in the cloud to determine the optimal amount of irrigation and fertilization required for crop growth. We develop and provide “Zero Agriculture”. In this project to expand employment opportunities in Iki City, Iki’s specialty product, asparagus, is combined with Iki’s know-how, high ridge cultivation (*2), and smart agricultural technology including “zero agriculture” to achieve “labor saving x high profit”. We will establish an Iki City version of asparagus high ridge cultivation model that can aim for
*1 Specified inhabited border remote island areas are remote islands that are recognized as particularly necessary for maintaining the local community to develop an environment that allows continuous habitation among inhabited border island areas. 71 outlying islands are designated.
*2 High ridge cultivation is a method in which ridges are raised by about 60 cm and seedlings are planted, and effects such as reduction of work burden and promotion of photosynthesis can be expected. Expected effect
The production equipment that realizes the above cultivation model will be developed in advance as a smart house, and the business that can be used will be developed. As a result, we will realize a mechanism that allows even new farmers to quickly become profitable, leading to an increase in new farmers and the creation of employment. In addition, Zero Agri uses a small amount of water and a large amount of water by drip, realizing about 50% water saving and fertilizer reduction compared to conventional farming methods. In Japan, too, there are problems of water depletion and soaring fertilizer prices due to abnormal weather. It is highly significant, and we plan to connect this to branding and increase the income of producers as a business.
Comment from Shinichi Sasaki, Representative Director of the Company [Image 2
The relationship building with Iki City was triggered by participating in the 2019 “Iki City SDGs Model Business Smart Agriculture Project”. The Zero Agriculture developed by our company aims to solve the environmental problems caused by water depletion problems and excessive fertilization and improve agricultural productivity with technology. . With the adoption of this project to expand employment opportunities, we would like to contribute to motivated farmers and new farmers through the smart farming of asparagus that was
demonstrated in the model project.
About Zero Agri
Zero Agri is a smart agricultural system that uses AI to calculate the optimal amount of irrigation and fertilization for crops from soil sensors and solar radiation information, and implements it at the optimal timing. In addition to saving labor for producers, stress-free irrigation and fertilization leads to improved yields and quality of crops, contributing to improved profits for producers. In addition, by applying the optimum amount of irrigation and fertilization using AI, it is possible to prevent excessive fertilization and reduce groundwater pollution and CO2 emissions due to chemical fertilizers, enabling environmentally friendly cultivation.
Full-scale domestic and overseas shipments began in 2015, and currently more than 330 units have been installed at farms and agricultural experimental stations nationwide.
