Hankyu Hanshin Holdings Co., Ltd. (President: Yasuo Shimada; hereinafter, Hankyu Hanshin HD) and Hitachi, Ltd. (President and CEO: Keiji Kojima; hereinafter, Hitachi) are implementing DX ( We are making efforts to support the improvement of the quality of home care and the operational efficiency of medical and nursing care workers by utilizing digital transformation. Recently, we have agreed to further expand and deepen our efforts so far and co-create new services in the healthcare field. Using an information sharing app among caregivers, we have started a demonstration aimed at preventing the aggravation and recurrence of heart failure, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Japan’s medical and nursing care costs will continue to increase after reaching approximately 50 trillion yen in fiscal 2018, and are expected to reach approximately 94 trillion yen in fiscal 2040*1. Balancing the enhancement of the social security system with the control of its costs has become a major social issue. Hankyu Hanshin HD and Hitachi hope that this demonstration will lead to the resolution of these social issues.
■ Details of this demonstration
Hankyu Hanshin Holdings and Hitachi are jointly working to improve the quality of home care and the operational efficiency of medical and nursing care workers by sharing and utilizing information on elderly people requiring nursing care among related parties such as medical institutions and nursing care facilities. In 2019, we launched Hankyu Hanshin Minatowa*2, a comprehensive regional care support service. [Image 2d67590-204-6774c40957a621ff4519-1.jpg&s3=67590-204-ed1dffe95a2c7a9ad4bc52324a142948-135x256.jpg

Based on the results of this demonstration, Hankyu Hanshin Holdings and Hitachi will consider applying it to support the promotion of EBPM (Evidence Based Policy Making) *4 in medical measures in collaboration with local governments. We will also proceed with demonstrations to quantitatively verify appropriate services for patients, such as sleep guidance, and their effects. Through these efforts, in the future, we aim to develop a “performance-linked private consignment contract method (Pay for Success) service business” in which the optimization of medical expenses is rewarded for results.
Hankyu Hanshin HD and Hitachi will continue to contribute to the development of communities along railway lines where healthy life expectancy can be extended, while contributing to the medical and nursing care prevention projects of local governments and health insurance associations through DX in the healthcare field.
■ Comments from Miyakojima Ward Medical Association Chairman Toshio Izumioka on this demonstration
The Miyakojima Ward Medical Association was established in 1947 shortly after the war, and has been active for over 70 years with the support of the residents of Miyakojima Ward, Osaka City. In addition to excellent general hospitals, emergency hospitals, specialized hospitals, and nursing care facilities in the city, we work closely with local government agencies and citizen groups to provide residents with everything from advanced medical care to home medical care and nursing care. We will do our best to receive it smoothly.
Under such circumstances, in recent years, there have been changes in the environment such as the sophistication and complexity of medical care and the construction of a comprehensive community care system. It is becoming more and more important, and the digitization of information has become essential.
Therefore, this time, in collaboration with Hankyu Hanshin HD and Hitachi, our medical association will lead the multi-professional collaborative information sharing project and work to create a system for developing efficient medical and nursing care services in the region. In addition, we will demonstrate mechanisms that contribute to the prevention of re-hospitalization for chronic diseases such as heart failure, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Through this initiative, we hope to create an environment in which we can get close to everyone in the community in terms of both medical care and nursing care, and to build a medical and nursing care environment where medical association members can act as “family doctors” for the residents of the city with greater peace of mind. We will aim.
