Over the past few years, the concept of polypharmacy has spread, and it seems that the fact that the goal is not limited to reducing medications has permeated the medical field.
Measures against polypharmacy have also been evaluated in the revision of medical fees, and in the 2020 revision, the “Comprehensive drug evaluation adjustment premium” is a system that evaluates not only the outcome of drug reduction, but also the comprehensive evaluation of prescriptions and the process of adjustment efforts. was reviewed. In addition, on March 31, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued a notice “How to start and proceed with polypharmacy measures for the elderly in hospitals”.
In this seminar, we invite Dr. Fumihiro Mizogami of the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, who is continuing research on polypharmacy in the elderly.
