“Kibata and Tonata – Sculptor’s Works and Words -” to be published on June 7th (Wednesday) is a photo-essay collection of sculptor Akio Omori’s works and words. The title “Kotoba” is a coined word by the author, and means “a fragment of words carved out of the body” in his creative activities. It is likened to the “koppa” that scatters in the process of putting out.
A passage in this book says, “I like people, animals, and things that give a glimpse of stories, roots, and backgrounds.” By carefully researching his favorite motifs, Omori creates sculptures that seem to come to life. The works on display range from large statues and mirrored works to works that blend into everyday life, such as tables, lamps, and belt buckles. In commemoration of the publication of the book, we will exhibit more than 10 wood carvings and bronze works. Please enjoy the world of Akio Omori, who has fascinated many fans with his fantastic works of breathtaking beauty.
