The total area of development has reached 2,428ha as of April 2023, with plans to expand to 2,800ha by FY2030. In addition, our flagship brand “Oi Ocha” uses tea leaves produced together with tea farmers through the “Tea-Producing Region Development Project” and pursues quality that matches the drinking scene, season, and era. , We are making ingenious tastes such as blending of tea leaves and time of
pasteurization, and we are evolving every year.
From May 2023, we will begin rolling out the “Oi Ocha Green Tea” PET bottled beverage product, which uses 100% tea leaves produced through the “Tea-Producing Region Development Project.” This “Oi Ocha Green Tea” will help promote sustainable agriculture through drinking together with customers who enjoy drinking this product, as well as enjoying the “refreshing comfort and scent that goes down the throat”. As a leading tea company that handles approximately one-fourth of Japan’s unrefined tea production, we are actively promoting
initiatives that contribute to the stable procurement of raw materials and the development of sustainable tea agriculture. In addition, we are pursuing the various possibilities of tea by continuing to innovate and evolve from the tea plantation to the production process, making use of the technology and experience we have accumulated since our founding. Going forward, we will continue to promote our unique initiative, the Tea-Producing Region Development Project, and as a company deeply involved in agriculture, we will strive to achieve both the stable procurement of safe, secure, high-quality green tea raw materials and the resolution of domestic agricultural issues. As a company deeply involved in agriculture, ITO EN launched the Tea-Producing Region Development Project in 1976 in order to achieve both a stable procurement of safe, secure, and high-quality green tea raw materials and the resolution of agricultural issues in Japan. Through this initiative, we are promoting “contract cultivation” in which we purchase the entire amount of tea leaves from tea farmers in various places, and “new production area business” in which we develop dilapidated farmland into large-scale tea plantations and produce tea leaves.
“Contract cultivation” (April 1976 onwards) We have tea farmers in various places produce tea leaves (tea leaves and tea bags) and tea leaves used in beverage products such as “Oi Ocha”. This is an initiative in which ITO EN purchases the entire amount.
“New Tea Plantation Business” (January 2001-present) Local business operators take the lead in supporting the creation of large-scale tea plantations from dilapidated agricultural land in cooperation with local governments. It is an initiative to fully provide technology and know-how related to production, and to purchase all the tea leaves produced exclusively for “Oi Ocha”.
