1. Background and purpose of the initiative
Due to the recent surge in food prices and feed prices, Kanagawa Prefecture is promoting the use of local food recyclable resources as feed, aiming to build a sustainable production system for the livestock industry and shift away from dependence on imported feed. In order to promote the effective use (recycling) of food leftovers, NTT East, which aims to realize a local recycling-based society, has decided to collect unused food leftovers that can be used as feed from food-related businesses (Eco In order to create a system where livestock farmers can stably obtain feed) at a low cost, we will collaborate with Kanagawa Prefecture and start a demonstration experiment of a matching platform with the cooperation of local livestock farmers and food-related businesses. I came to.
2. Demonstration outline
(1) Period: April 26, 2023 (Wednesday) to late June 2023 -planned- (2) Cooperating companies: Usui Nosan Co., Ltd. (Atsugi City) and two local food-related companies -planned-
* We will recruit and add cooperating businesses as needed, and expect to expand to 4 farmers and 15 food-related businesses.
(3) Overview of initiatives:
Building a platform that allows food-related businesses to register information on leftover food, and available livestock farmers to browse and make reservations
We will manage and operate the matching and receiving.
(4) Verification items:
・System verification: Information content suitable for matching, operability from the user’s perspective, etc.
・Matching verification: Degree of use of registered food waste, degree of registration of food waste required by livestock farmers, etc. [Initiative image]

3. For the future
Based on this verification, we will collaborate with Kanagawa Prefecture to build, operate, and promote a system for effectively using food waste (eco-feed). We will work to realize a gentle “sustainable local recycling society”.
NTT East will continue to co-create new added value in local communities as a “social innovation company that supports the future of local communities.”
