[Okayama University] Recruitment of co-creation activity partners for the term ending July 2023 for the industry-academia co-creation activity “Okayama University Open Innovation Challenge”

Companies and local governments work together with universities to formulate a vision, and carry out research seeds and needs matching through on-campus activities. This activity aims to create new businesses that can provide new value (0→1) and develop existing businesses (1→10)!
★☆★Persons in charge of employee training, management/business planning, new businesses, and the management team★☆★
The SDGs, DX promotion, carbon neutrality, decarbonization, and the corona crisis… these days, conventional corporate management and business operations are not enough. Management and employees attend various symposiums, seminars, and exhibitions, collect materials, pamphlets, and business cards, summarize them in reports, and introduce them at meetings. Isn’t that the end? Is the transformation of the entire company, including human resources, progressing, such as the essential vision formation and seeds/needs matching?
The “Okayama University Open Innovation Challenge” provides one means of solving such problems. We will provide the wisdom of the university from the vision formation, create it together with the company, and proceed with the project. We will break away from the principle of self-sufficiency in forming our own vision, and by utilizing the organization of a university, which has faculty members who conduct the latest research in diverse academic fields, as well as a large number of people from industry, academia, and government, we will bring unprecedented value to society. Why don’t you aim to provide it together!

National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita Ward, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu) has set itself the goal of being an SDGs promotion research university that continues to create new value from Okayama to the world. Innovation Organization” (Oka University OI Organization) was established,
We aim to accelerate social implementation by strengthening strategic and organizational co-creation between industry and academia. Furthermore, from October 2021, along with the adoption and
implementation of the Cabinet Office’s “National University Innovation Creation Environment Enhancement Project”, the organization will be reorganized into an agile research management organization “Okayama University Innovation Management Core” (abbreviation: IMaC). Implemented by the Cabinet Office “National University Innovation Creation Environment Enhancement Project”, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology “Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration and Joint Research Facility Development Project through Collaboration of Regional Core and Unique Research Universities”, National Strategic Special Zone “Digital Rural Health Special Zone” As a regional core and distinctive research university: Okayama University, we are promoting the strengthening of research
capabilities and the creation of innovation.
One of the initiatives of the Okayama University OI Organization is the “Okayama University Co-Creation Activity,” in which people in charge of companies and universities team up, think together, form visions, match each other through on-campus activities, and create projects. Open Innovation Challenge” (Okadai OI Challenge).
The Okayama University OI Challenge is aimed at not only developing existing businesses (1→10), but also creating new businesses (0→1) by forming new visions, discovering corporate needs and university seeds, and acquiring unexpected new knowledge. You can get a place for co-creation.
It will also be a good opportunity to learn about SDGs education and business management for employees and executives.
This time, we are looking for co-creation activity partners for the Okadai OI Challenge for the term ending July 2023. We sincerely look forward to receiving inquiries from interested companies,
organizations, local governments, etc.
◆What is the Okayama University Open Innovation Challenge (Okayama University OI Challenge)?
It is one of the “industry-university co-creation activities” in which companies and universities work together to create projects and work together. In the industry-academia co-creation activities, in the process of “vision formation / matching activities” → “matching (joint / contract research)” → “larger joint research”, the area of ”vision formation / matching activities” which is the entrance This is an unprecedented new initiative that will be strengthened through on-campus industry-academia co-creation activities.
For example, when a company develops an existing business (1 → 10), it searches for all the seeds of the university. It was like, and sometimes it didn’t work. Also, when a company seeks to create a new business (0 → 1), there are times when the company’s vision and needs are not clear. In that case, how should we approach universities and researchers? to worry.

First of all, we will form a vision together, create a project, and hold a “co-creation pitch” to present and consider issues and proposals from both “company → researcher” and “researcher → company”. Produce good industry-university co-creation.
In particular, when forming a vision, we often paid a large amount of money to a consulting company or spent a lot of time conducting research using only our own resources. In addition, by forming a vision together with a university organization with many people from industry, academia, and government, you can objectively grasp your company’s vision and business strategy. In addition, until now, companies have not been able to conduct surveys and sales activities on campus without permission. By obtaining a “place of co-creation” where you can conduct on-campus activities with university staff, you will be able to meet more researchers and discover new knowledge, which will be very useful for business operations.

-Benefits of Okayama University Open Innovation Challenge for companies, etc.- In implementing unprecedented initiatives such as new businesses and SDGs, we can utilize not only our own resources, but also the diverse human and physical resources of universities.
You can accurately communicate your company’s needs to university staff and researchers.
In the co-creation pitch of industry-academia co-creation activities on campus, it is possible to acquire new knowledge that the company does not anticipate with a researcher’s proposal, and it can be used for both existing business development (1 → 10) and new business creation (0 → 1). .
By “thinking together” with the latest researchers and university people from various industries, academia, and government, we can gain new thoughts, discoveries, and connections that we cannot think of or obtain with our own resources alone.・It is very useful for career development.
Along with carbon neutrality, decarbonization, and SDGs education for employees and executives, it is also a good opportunity to learn about business management.
It can be used not only by companies but also by non-profit
organizations such as local governments.
