■More than 60% of the respondents don’t know the national flag! Relatively many people know the place and the capital
First of all, it is a questionnaire about basic information about Mongolia. I checked how much you know about Mongolia’s places, capitals, flags and official languages.
[Image 2:×290.jpg] The sum of “know” and “somewhat know” was 71% for “Mongolian places” and 55% for “Mongolian capitals”. You’ll find that relatively well-known places and capitals are known.
Mongolia is a landlocked country in the Eurasian Continent, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, and its capital is Ulaanbaatar. Its area is about four times that of Japan, but its population is about 3.4 million.
[Image 3:×354.jpg] The percentage of “I don’t know” was high for “Mongolian flag” (62%) and “Mongolian official language” (72%).
The Mongolian flag has red, blue and red colors from left to right. Above the red on the left is a design called Soyombo, which from the top represents fire, earth, water, the sun, the moon, and yin and yang (from the website of the Honorary Consulate of Mongolia in Fukuoka). reference).
[Image 4:×228.jpg] Regarding the official language of Mongolia, Mongolian is the correct answer. The grammar of Japanese and Mongolian is very similar, and it is said that it is relatively easy for Japanese people to learn. The equivalent of “hello” in Japanese is “sign by no”.
■What comes to mind when you hear the word “Mongolia”?
Then, what do Japanese people imagine when they hear the word “Mongolia”? Here are some of the words that are deeply related to Mongolia, and the results of choosing all the things that you can imagine.
[Image 5:×450.jpg] The first place was “nomad” with 65%. A nomadic people is an ethnic group that moves with livestock such as goats, sheep, cows, and horses, and lives in different places depending on the season. The 3rd place “Ger” (41%) is a house where such nomads live. It is devised so that it can be easily assembled, disassembled, and transported in a life that repeats movement. When sightseeing in Mongolia, there are also plans that allow you to experience staying in this ger.
[Image 6:×400.jpg] 5th place is “(Mongolian) Sumo” (37%). Unlike Japanese sumo wrestling, there is no ring, and if any part of the body touches the ground, the player loses, but it is allowed to touch the palm of the hand. Mongolian sumo may have become well known because there are many wrestlers from Mongolia who are active in the Japanese sumo world.
[Image 7:×400.jpg] The 7th place “Gobi Desert” (26%) is a desert that spreads from southern Mongolia to northern China. There are also tours where you can experience beautiful starry skies and camel rides in the Gobi Desert.
[Image 8:×400.jpg] The 10th place with a low percentage of 2% was “red food, white food”. In Mongolia, red food refers to meat and is mainly eaten in winter. And white foods are dairy products, which are mainly eaten in summer. Red foods include jangsangmaha, which is mutton boiled in salt, and khoshol, which is like fried dumplings.
