First beach volleyball competition, team of deaf players thrives in satellite competition with self-made points
At the Japan Beach Volleyball Federation official tournament, the team of deaf athletes earned points on their own for the first time and achieved the feat of participating.

A pair of “Yuta Imai” and “Naoki Terai” who belong to the Japan Deaf Beach Volleyball Association participated in the competition. This was the first time that I got the right to participate based on my own ability, unlike past wildcard (recommended) participation.

・ BVT1 is the top category and is basically held in metropolitan areas and tourist spots. Athletes aiming for international competitions such as the Olympics and world tours participate, and top-level
competitions are developed.
・BVT2 Positioned as the “JBV satellite” so far, it plays an important role in nurturing future professional athletes. We will support the discovery and growth of new talent by holding a rehearsal competition for the first time in the country and a rehearsal competition for the national polity.
・ BVT3 We are expanding the category of “JBV Satellite U-23 Beach Volleyball Tournament”. There are categories for 23 and under, 21 and under, 19 and under, and 17 and under, aiming to strengthen and develop young players and discover promising players.
The participation of Deaf athletes in the “Japan Beach Volleyball Tour 2023 Satellite Takahagi Tournament” by earning points on their own has become an important event that has taken a new step in the beach volleyball world. We will continue to strive for the growth of our athletes for the Deaflympics to be held in Tokyo in 2025.
