It is about to be born from Kesennuma, one of the three major fishing grounds. Kodai Kato, who founded amu Co., Ltd. in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, started commuting to Kesennuma as a volunteer after the Great East Japan Earthquake when he was a student, and moved there after gaining experience at a major startup in Tokyo. With the mission of “turning fishing gear, which accounts for 40% of marine plastic waste, into a resource for the future,” we have begun to develop alliance partners and collaborate with investors. Materials recycled from the world’s three major fishing grounds can be shipped in tens of tons. By turning waste fishing nets into a rich resource, what kinds of collaborations will be possible with manufacturers and investors? I would like to discuss amu’s initiatives and possibilities with all the participants, including experts.
