What is “label novel”?
A unique collaboration between DD4D BREWING, a company based in Mitsuhama, a port town in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, that brings out a variety of styles of beer, and Masatomo Tamaru, a Mitsuhama native and standard-bearer of modern short shorts. Novels are engraved on the labels of craft beer with a variety of flavors, making it a new experience to enjoy while reading.
Please enjoy this mysterious world trilogy based on the theme of “sweet, sour, and bitter.”

DD4D BREWING A craft beer brewery in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, completed in 2019 inside an apparel select shop that has been in operation since 1998. They continue to communicate diversity and culture through small-scale, wide-variety beers. A new factory will be completed in Mitsuhama, Matsuyama City in the winter of 2021. Increased production volume and started producing canned beer. We wholesale to 47 prefectures nationwide, mainly to specialty stores. In 2023, we will also advance to overseas events.

Short short author Masatomo Tamaru

Graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo, and completed the Graduate School of Engineering at the same university. In 2011, “Sakura” was published in “Monogatari no Luminarie” and she made her debut as a writer. In 2012, “Umizake” won the top prize at the Jitsurisha Short Shorts Contest. “Umizake” was made into a short film starring Peace’s Naoki Matayoshi and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and other venues. He is active in a wide range of areas as a standard-bearer for contemporary short stories, serving as the head judge for the Botchan Literary Award and other awards, and holding short short writing courses throughout the country. The content of the writing course will be included in Japanese language textbooks for fourth-grade elementary school students (Koiku Publishing) starting in 2020. From 2021, novels will be published in Japanese language textbooks (Koiku Publishing) for first-year junior high school students. In 2017, he launched the “Short Short Garden,” a site for posting 400-word works, and is working to further popularize his work. His many publications include “Umi-iro no Botsou” and “Otogi Company.” He has appeared in many media such as “Jonetsu Tairiku” and “SWITCH Interview Masters”.
