The NPO Programming Education Research Institute (Chairman: Koichi Ito) will hold the “1st Tokyo Programming Contest where Children Shine”, a programming contest for elementary and junior high school students.
This contest is open to all elementary and junior high school students living or attending school in Tokyo. Children trying programming for the first time can participate while having fun.

What is the 1st Tokyo Programming Contest where children shine? The “1st Tokyo Programming Contest for Children to Shine” is a project subsidized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Welfare and Health Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, to create an opportunity for elementary and junior high school students studying or living in Tokyo to start learning programming, and to present the results of what they have learned in the classroom. This event is held to increase motivation for learning.
We aim to create a contest that children who are trying programming for the first time can have fun participating in.

Application period: September 1st (Friday) to November 12th (Sunday), 2023 Exhibition of works and award ceremony: Sunday, January 28, 2024 Venue: Kitatopia Asuka Hall (in front of Oji Station)

Programs and works using programming (programming languages ​​and tools do not matter)
*Only one work can be submitted per person.
Qualification requirements
1.Elementary and junior high school students living or attending school in Tokyo 2. There are no plans to apply to programming contests sponsored by other organizations within the fiscal year.
However, you can apply for contests that your elementary and junior high schools encourage you to participate in.
*Within the fiscal year is from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024. Examination criteria
The judging committee will score the following items.
Originality: Something different from others is added to the work. Skills: Demonstrates knowledge, applied ability, expressive ability, etc. appropriate for grade and age.
Effort: Works, application forms, photos, videos, etc. are created with effort and time.
Goal: Have an attitude of making something convenient or better, and caring for others
*In some cases, examinations may be conducted by grade level, such as elementary school and junior high school students.

What is the 6th Kita Ward Children’s Programming Contest?
The 6th Kita-ku Children’s Programming Contest will be held on the same date as the 1st Tokyo Programming Contest, where children shine. The Kita Ward Children’s Programming Contest is a contest that has been held every year since 2018 for elementary and junior high school students attending or living in Kita Ward. Elementary and junior high school students attending or living in Kita Ward can submit one work to both contests.
