We recently held the “Yamagata Prefecture Fair” with the theme of local cuisine and ingredients from Yamagata Prefecture. We also actively participate in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ initiatives such as the “Milk Smile Project” and “Noufuku Event,” and send out information that will give us an opportunity to think about food.
Due to the recent ban on the import of marine products, marine products businesses across Japan are suffering from harmful rumors and are facing the predicament of having all marine products scheduled for export overseas canceled. At Afu Shokudo, we would like to take this opportunity to take this opportunity to reconsider the consumption of domestic seafood. In order to listen to the concerns of fisheries businesses and help revitalize Japan’s fisheries industry, we will continue to work with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to communicate the added value of production areas. “Afu Shokudo” initiatives to boost domestic consumption of marine products

We usually connect with production areas all over Japan, provide local ingredients and menus, and help solve problems faced by production areas and raise awareness of the production areas. In particular, with regard to our fish menu, we have utilized our own seafood channels. Last week, we were offering a bowl of rice bowls made with bluefin tuna from Shizuoka Prefecture, and daily set meals made with croakers and flounder from Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. In response to requests from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Fisheries Agency’s Fish Policy Department to sell menus using scallops, we sold pasta menus using Hokkaido scallops through our product channels.

Cream pasta with Hokkaido scallops and komatsuna
This is a dish that goes perfectly with the juicy and sweet scallops, the crunchy organic vegetable komatsuna, and the creamy sauce. In addition, on Fish Day (October 10th) in October, we will highlight production areas that are suffering from export problems due to treated water issues, with the aim of creating an opportunity to think about this issue and supporting the production areas. In addition to Afu Shokudo, we are preparing event menus using scallop menus and Tokiwa seafood products at each of the ministries and agencies (6 ministries and 10 locations) operated by our company.
At our contracted cafeteria, we will continue to promote the consumption of fish and take action in response to the problems faced by the production areas.
*General admission for meals only is possible by completing a simple procedure at the reception desk at the main entrance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
*The facility is very crowded during staff lunch time (12:00-13:00), so you can use it more smoothly if you avoid that time.
