■ History and scheme of joint procurement
Cardboard boxes, which play an important role in protecting, storing, and transporting food and beverage products, are attracting attention as packaging materials with a high recycling rate due to the recent rise in environmental awareness. On the other hand, the maintenance of the recycling system has become an urgent issue due to soaring energy prices and a shortage of workers.
The Glico Group will participate in a joint procurement scheme for cardboard base paper implemented by five companies: Kirin Holdings, Suntory Holdings, Nagatanien, Nissin Foods Holdings, and House Foods Group.
When starting joint procurement of cardboard base paper, the Group has made various efforts, such as changing the specifications of cardboard base paper and improving logistics efficiency by utilizing VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) warehouses. We aim to realize an efficient supply chain and reduce the environmental burden by expanding the procurement area by jointly procuring cardboard base paper and improving the transportation efficiency of cardboard base paper.
In the “Glico Group Environmental Vision 2050,” the Glico Group has set medium- to long-term quantitative targets for the “utilization of sustainable container and packaging resources.” This joint procurement scheme will contribute to achieving these targets. increase. In order to create value for our customers, we will not only focus on this initiative for cardboard base paper, but will also accelerate sustainable initiatives for raw materials.
