In recent years, in higher education, many short-term overseas programs have been developed, but it has been pointed out that the complexity of learning outcomes and the difficulty in verifying educational effectiveness are high. Furthermore, despite the large number of group dispatches, there is a lack of research that focuses on group interactions in different cultures, and most of the studies have been conducted on a small scale.
In this study, we focused on APU’s large-scale overseas training program “FIRST” and visualized the learning process through group interaction during the dispatch. In “FIRST,” more than 100 first-year students are dispatched to South Korea at a time, aiming for destinations determined by a lottery, and conducting questionnaire surveys while moving in groups. In this study, we used text mining to analyze the post-return retrospective reports of 238 participants in FIRST (visited in South Korea) conducted in 2015 and 2016, and analyzed the characteristics that suggest group interactions. Words were extracted and organized. As a result, among the characteristic words suggesting “interaction in a group,” “leave it” (dependence on others) appeared most frequently, and “leave communication in Korean (to other group members)” on site. It was found that it is most often used in the context of “. The results of tracing the learning process related to “delegating” in line with the experiential learning theory that forms the basis of the program suggest changes in consciousness such as an attitude of relying on others to cope with different cultures and an awareness of the significance of
