November 28, 2023 (Sunnyvale, California) — Proofpoint, a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, today announces Sumit Dhawan as Chief Executive Officer. Did. Dhawan is an experienced technology leader with a proven track record and reputation for building market-leading security, cloud and end-user computing businesses. In his most recent role as president at VMware, he achieved over $13 billion in sales and was responsible for VMware’s go-to-market, including global sales, customer success and experience, strategic ecosystem, industry solutions, marketing, and communications. I oversaw the department. Prior to that, he was CEO of Instart, a cybersecurity business providing innovations in web application security services. He has held senior and executive management positions at both VMware and Citrix, where he successfully built industry-leading businesses at scale.
