LEGIKA (location: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Fumie Ozaki; hereinafter referred to as “LEGIKA”), which operates the Tokiwaso Project, which has produced over 130 professional manga artists, is The event “LEGIKA UP 2023” to create the next step was held on November 29, 2023 in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo.
As a central project of this event, awards were given to the artists who were active during the past year among all 79 participants in the manga artist share house project “Tokiwaso Project.” The “LEGIKA UP Grand Prize”, which is given to the most active author, was awarded to Ryugo Yoshii, who is responsible for the serialized work “Slave Vessel” in “Yanmaga Web” (managed by Kodansha Co., Ltd.). Other award winners include Reo Yamata, who won a serialization on the web manga site “Weekly CoroCoro Comic” (managed by Shogakukan Co., Ltd.) as a teenager.

In addition, this event will feature a lecture by Fumitoshi Mameno, editor-in-chief of Shogakukan Co., Ltd.’s Manga One, a traveling editorial department with seven booths for six magazines, and Musha, editor-in-chief of LEGIKA’s directly managed “Regika Studio Editorial Department.” There were also consultation sessions for manga artists by Masaaki, consultation sessions for tax accountants, and a demonstration of a large LCD tablet by Wacom Corporation.All booths were fully booked and the event was crowded with many participants. Unlike business people affiliated with companies, freelance manga artists rarely have the opportunity to receive small awards on an annual basis. At LEGIKA, we planned and operated this event so that you can connect to growth from the small step of summarizing the year. At LEGIKA, we will not only support young manga artists on the path to their professional debut, but will also continue to carry out steady and comprehensive efforts to support their mid- to long-term success as professionals.
