Comments from designer Michael Geldmacher

Winning the Archiproducts Design Award was recognition of our work with the rush furniture collection and gave us confidence that we are moving in the right direction. SAKYU has already won the runner-up prize at JCD Product of the Year 2023, which is something we are proud of and confident about. This award has further strengthened our belief in this. I feel very proud and happy.
■About Look into Nature
Look into Nature is a sustainable brand that uses high-quality domestic rush for furniture. Igusa is a sustainable industry with a history of more than 1,500 years, as it was mentioned in the Kojiki, but in the past 30 years, the scale of the industry has shrunk to less than one-tenth, and if this continues, it will be extremely difficult to continue in the future. It’s in the situation. Under such circumstances, we empathized with the desire of rush producers to continue as an industry rather than a traditional craft, and started development in 2019. We have exhibited at Milano Design Week three times since 2019, spreading the appeal of furniture made from domestic rush to the world.
