In November, Tamaki Fumino from “Nijisanji” is appearing as the fourth VTuber collaboration project. In the land where November’s work is set, the local government is focusing on environmental conservation, and various efforts are being made to pass it on to the next generation. Three artists, Kazuya Morita, ItoShin, and Masashi Fujita, who support our efforts to combat climate change, will perform on stage in “Jakoshi Pass, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture,” “Bijinrin, Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture,” and “Enoshima, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture,” respectively. We are delivering “BGM” that is a newly written song and fused with animation.
Background to the launch of “Green Music produced by Zurich” by Zurich Insurance Company
Zurich Insurance Group has operated as a carbon-neutral company since 2014 and in 2019 joined the United Nations Global Compact “Business Ambition for 1.5°C”, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5⁰C. We signed on as the first insurance company. Additionally, in 2020, we launched a reforestation project called Zurich Forest in Brazil, and are actively working on global environmental issues. However, each insurance company can only contribute so much. In order to solve this problem, we believe that it is important not only for us but for the whole world to come together and face this together. Therefore, we hope to provide the Japanese people with an opportunity to take an interest in this crisis and take action from their own standpoints. ■Work summary
Jakoshi Pass in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture is a pass whose name comes from the legend that in the past, a large snake crossed this pass and returned to the lake. The observation deck there is known as a superb view point from which you can see the morning mist over the Yufuin Basin. With the goal of “passing down a rich and beautiful
environment to future children,” citizens and businesses are working together to carry out various initiatives such as preserving and restoring the water environment and holding workshops.
■Kazuya Morita comment
It’s the season when hot coffee in the morning is delicious. I also drink it every morning.
I wrote this song with the hope that it would make the start of such a day even just a little bit more fun.
And this time, it was a real coincidence, but Oita, where the animation is set, is also my grandfather’s cherished hometown. Although I won’t be able to see my grandfather again, I hope that the scenery of his precious hometown will last forever.

■Work summary
Bijinbayashi in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, was completely cut down about 100 years ago to secure charcoal, but it sprouted and grew all at once, and was nicknamed “Beautybayashi” because of its dignified appearance, and it shows various expressions throughout the four seasons. Now, 100,000 people visit each year. The Bijinbayashi Preservation Association, which is made up mainly of local residents, carries out environmental conservation activities throughout the year and received the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award in 2021.
■ItoShin comment
This time, since the theme was autumn, I played the piano with a soft touch and a deep sound.
Since I am from a rural area, I lived close to nature when I was a child. I created this piece with the desire to express a sense of nostalgia, such as my favorite places I’ve been to in the past, and the roads I’ve taken.
I hope that this will serve as an opportunity to remember places, environments, and other things that nature has created.

■Work summary
Enoshima, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is an island that juts out from the Shonan coast into Sagami Bay, and has long been known as a pilgrimage and scenic spot, and has been designated as a historic site and scenic spot by the prefecture. Fujisawa City, which includes Enoshima, has declared a “Fujisawa City Climate Emergency
Declaration,” and citizens, businesses, and the government are working together to build an environmentally friendly urban system as a countermeasure against climate change.
■Satoshi Fujita comment
Enoshima is a familiar place for me, who lives in Tokyo, and I go there several times a year, but the beach with its expansive horizon and soft smell of salt feels so good whenever I visit that I find myself staying longer. No matter how old I am, I want this view to remain for future generations. The next time I visit, I would like to peek out from the mountain and see the big ocean and Enoshima like Fumino and his cats.
