Bunkyo Gakuin University (President: Tsutomu Fukui) is planning a support project for Raimu Kawai, a fourth-year student at the university’s Faculty of Humanities, who is working hard on her studies while aiming for the world in breaking, which is currently attracting attention as a new sport for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. We are pleased to announce that the third video, “A Close Look at Breaking Player Raimu Kawai (RAM),” will be released on the Bunkyo Gakuin University official website/official YouTube channel from December 1st.

Mr. Kawai is a university student and athlete who is active worldwide in the dance competition, breaking, while attending the Department of Child Development, Faculty of Humanities, Bunkyo Gakuin University, and has a brilliant track record as a gold medalist at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympics.
At our university, we have been interviewing Mr. Kawai since last year because we want to support him as he aims to make it to the world. This time, we will take a closer look at the truth about Kawai’s college life, as he pursues his dream as a breaking athlete while pursuing another dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. This is the third part of our support project, and this time, as a breaking athlete, how do you balance the time you spend competing in order to continue to be active on a global scale with the time you spend studying to get your teaching license? We will unravel what they are conscious of through close contact with their daily university life.
Also, for Mr. Kawai, who says, “The people at the university respect me, and I respect everyone I interact with,” I once again asked myself what the university means to athletes. He also talked about it this time. Please watch it!
