The Association for Making Everyone’s Dreams Come True (Ota-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as the corporation) is accepting entries for the “Everyone’s Dreams AWARD 5,” an idea contest in which high school students identify social issues that they are interested in and solve them using the power of business. We will start accepting applications.

[Grand Prix] Shion Hosaka (3rd year, Ikubunkan High School) ■Business idea: Solving remote island logistics issues with new mobility using seaplanes ■Content: There are 14,000 remote islands in Japan. We focused on the problem that most of them do not have airport facilities and rely on ships for transportation. By using a seaplane to circle remote islands like a route bus, transportation efficiency can be improved, and by making the seats on the plane removable, it can not only revitalize the tourism industry but also be used as a medical helicopter. Won the Grand Prix for his business idea. [Semi-Grand Prix] Mr. Tomoya Sonoda (3rd year, Okayama Sanyo High School) ■Business idea: Realizing a sustainable local community by turning makomo into feed ■Content: Utilizing abandoned cultivated land with “Makomotake,” a perennial grass of the Poaceae family They have announced a business in which they will grow the leaves and ferment the stems and leaves that are discarded after harvesting, turning them into pesticide-free silage for cattle. In addition to simply using makomodake as livestock feed, we also contribute to regional disaster prevention by realizing circular agriculture by collaborating with farming and livestock for local production and local consumption, and by converting abandoned cultivated land into “paddy fields” as water storage farmland. In addition, he presented a business idea that solves various issues faced by Japanese agriculture, such as making it possible to maintain abandoned farmland by increasing farmers’ income, and won the runner-up prize.
