Tsukuba City
We will be holding Tsukuba Startup Exchange Event “Tsukuba Startup Night 2023”. ~TSUKUBA ecosystem connecting deep tech and the future~
……
Tsukuba City will be holding “Tsukuba Startup Night 2023” together with Venture Cafe Tokyo (Representative Director: Yasuhiro Yamakawa). This event will discuss points of support for R&D-oriented startups born in Tsukuba Science City and points of support from a startup’s perspective, and will lead to building better support.
In addition, we will provide a place for interaction at the local venue, creating new connections between participants, and connecting the new challenges that arise from this to the next startup. [Image
“Tsukuba Startup Night” has CONNECTed with over 1,900 people so far. Since 2017, Tsukuba City, which is home to Tsukuba Science City, a world-class academia, has been working every day to solve social issues and create new industries through the commercialization of research seeds.
On the other hand, as support for commercialization is accelerating at national research institutions such as the University of Tsukuba, AIST, and NIMS, it is necessary to organically connect academia, support organizations, and the government and coordinate support for startup support. With the emergence of a common understanding that this is the case, we established the Tsukuba Startup Ecosystem Consortium in 2020 and began collaborating to create and support the growth of R&D startups. In 2022, Tsukuba City will be designated as a super city-type national strategic special zone, and the movement toward the social implementation of society-friendly technology is accelerating.
Tsukuba’s research results have attracted attention overseas, and Tsukuba City began collaborations with CIC in the United States in 2019 and LUXINNOVATION in Luxembourg in 2022. Among private companies, Prologis, a global logistics company, has opened a social
implementation support facility in Tsukuba, and we are also
collaborating with them. Additionally, in October 2023, Astellas Pharma, Mitsui Fudosan, and US Biolabs collaborated to begin developing a life science ecosystem in the Tsukuba/Kashiwa-no-ha area. This Tsukuba Startup Night 2023 will feature the theme of “TSUKUBA Ecosystem Connecting Deep Tech and the Future,” and will discuss expectations for Tsukuba for future startup support and ecosystem cultivation, as well as R&D startups from a startup’s perspective. We will discuss the key points of support and how technology can contribute to cities and citizens, foster connections with many people, and take the next step toward creating a concrete social impact. Masu.
This is your chance to experience Tsukuba’s unique startup ecosystem in Tokyo. Exhibitions by tech startups are also planned. Please join us!

fundamentally change the way society works – Tsukuba Super Science City Concept – [ [Japanese/JPN] Tsukuba City is growing at a speed unparalleled nationwide, with population increasing due to the opening of the Tsukuba Express in 2005 and development along the line. On the other hand, in terms of urban development, there are increasing differences between the areas along the line and the surrounding areas, transportation network issues due to the vast habitable area, improvements in daily life services such as medical care, and improved communication between the government and residents. Many pressing issues are emerging. Under these circumstances, Tsukuba City has set forth the “Tsukuba Super Science City Initiative,” which was designated as a zone by the government in March 2022. This initiative utilizes future technologies such as AI and big data to solve problems in daily life. We are trying to find a solution and create a future society that we want to continue living in.
