Mori Building Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Shingo Tsuji) has announced the creation of Azabudai Hills, which opened on November 24th, in order to spread the word about the town’s vision to the world. We created the opening movie 2023 “The Lighting Ceremony”. In addition to the 30-second commercial version released on the opening day, the full version will be released from December 1st.

The opening of Azabudai Hills, which was created under the theme of “Green & Wellness” over a period of about 35 years and the thoughts of many partners including about 300 landowners, is not a “completion” but a “beginning.” With the desire to convey the opening of Azabudai Hills to the world with a sense of scale, along with the vision of the town and the new human activities that will be born there, we will perform a show act with a celebratory feel set in the vast town itself. And it was made into a movie.
The show act, themed “Lighting Ceremony,” symbolically creates an image of the heartbeat of life spreading throughout the city and a new light shining in the middle of Tokyo. A total of 52 dancers of various ages, nationalities, and genres performed together on stages in various blocks and central squares of the city, with live music performed by a specially formed orchestra that brought together top-notch musicians from Japan and abroad. was held.
The theme music that will form the core of the show act will be the song “Mugen Mirai” by the popular trio Perfume, and will be
orchestrated by Miho Hasama, an internationally active composer and arranger. In addition, domestic and international talents have gathered together, including Shingo Okamoto for production and choreography, MIKIKO for choreography supervision, and Yuichi Kodama for video direction. A total of 59 artists from various countries and ages participated in the orchestra, including Patrick Bartley Jr. on the alto saxophone, Fumitake Ezaki on the piano, Fumihiro Ibuki on the drums, and the Suginami Children’s Choir on the chorus. The 30-second commercial version released in advance to coincide with the opening day has already become a hot topic on social media.

To be honest, I was shocked and moved by the quality of the video! When I accepted the offer for this job, I was a little nervous about what would be produced, but seeing the talent from so many different fields and such moving works come together makes this something special. I was convinced that it must be. I’ve been a huge fan of Perfume for over 10 years, and it was truly amazing to have the opportunity to perform some of my favorite songs on such a special piece. I hope viewers can feel how much power, kindness, and passion went into making this video a reality.
