Asbashi General Incorporated Association
We are now recruiting high school students to take on the challenge of “IT Apprenticeship,” where high school students learn while working in the IT industry!
We would appreciate it if you could cover the recruitment of participating students and cover the program.
……
Asbashi, a general incorporated association that promotes career education such as internships for high school students, has begun recruiting participants for its IT industry apprenticeship program for high school students. This is Japan’s first apprenticeship for high school students in the IT industry (according to our research). This program has the potential to solve the problem of current high school students choosing their career paths, as well as the academic background and social issues surrounding high school and university graduates.
● What is an apprenticeship?
Apprentice means “trainee”. Apprenticeships are a career option that allows people to work and earn money, acquire skills and experience, and build their own careers. It has become popular in the UK due to the government’s promotion, and has been around for some time. It has spread not only to fields such as manufacturing and construction, but also to new fields such as digital technology and creative industries, and even professionals such as doctors and lawyers are now able to obtain qualifications and find jobs through apprenticeships. Based on precedent cases in the UK, we have researched the ideal form of apprenticeship that is suitable for the Japanese education system, and our organization is developing this “apprenticeship” as an apprenticeship that can be started by high school students in the IT industry in Aichi Prefecture. We are recruiting as part of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s FY2020 “Future Classroom” demonstration project.
● What are the possibilities of the Japanese version of The Apprentice? The industries in which high school students can earn money through part-time work are limited to jobs that have little bearing on their future career, such as the restaurant industry, supermarkets, and convenience stores. Also, for high school students, the goal is to earn money from a part-time job, and there is almost no education provided as part of career development. This IT apprenticeship program is aimed at high school students who are considering working in the IT industry in the future. They improve their skills on the job while actually working and thinking about their future careers, and in the process decide on their future. You can get the great benefit of being able to In addition, the number of students attending correspondence high schools due to children from poor families, single-parent families, or those who do not attend school is increasing, and apprenticeships are advantageous because they can earn money instead of internships, which do not. In addition, industries and companies that accept apprenticeships will first provide opportunities to work and connect with young people, as the labor shortage is becoming increasingly severe, and they will foster leaders while helping them feel the meaning and fun of working in the industry. It is also a benefit that you can go to. In addition, by providing on-the-job education and creating income-earning opportunities for young people living in difficult situations, we will help achieve SDGs “Target 1: Eliminating Poverty” and “Target 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.” You can also promote it as a social contribution activity that connects people.
The “Caretaker Scholarship Program,” which has been running since last year and has high school students working in nursing care facilities in a similar way, has created cases where young people who have lived in single-parent households or who have refused to go to school gain confidence and become leaders. ● How can high school students become apprentices?
First of all, please participate in the information session and understand the purpose of this program, and then participate in the interview and training (participation fee and transportation fee are free) that will be held during the winter break. During this period, you will take on challenges posed by the company you wish to work for, and employment will be determined through the process of solving those challenges and an interview. After that, you can work as an apprentice at a company for pay. Once you become an apprentice, you are not obligated to get a job at the company, but we will conduct periodic group training (OFF-JT) to encourage growth so that you can acquire the ability to contribute in a way that is commensurate with your paid salary. To go.
