The Japan Environment Association (located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Ikufumi Niimi), which operates the Eco Mark, has an agreement with the Singapore Environmental Council (SEC), which operates the Singapore Green Label. , has started mutual
authentication of “projectors”.
When applying for the Singapore Green Label for a projector that has obtained the Eco Mark, the examination by the SEC regarding the common standards will be omitted. It is no longer necessary to conduct tests or prepare certification documents, which were originally required to apply for the Singapore Green Label, and it is expected that the effort involved in applying will be significantly reduced by utilizing this mutual recognition.
About Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA)
This is an agreement between two or more countries that allows the other country’s environmental labeling organization (or part of it) to be carried out by the country’s environmental labeling agency. When two countries discuss environmental label standards for target items and agree on common standards, examination using the other country’s environmental label will be omitted. Previously, even if two countries had almost the same standard items and required the same test results, it was necessary to conduct the same test in each country, or to create separate certification documents. This was a burden for the applicant business.
The implementation of mutual certification will reduce development and manufacturing costs for businesses by promoting common standards, reduce application costs for environmental labels, facilitate entry into overseas markets, and allow products certified with environmental labels to be widely distributed across multiple countries. This is expected to have the effect of reducing environmental impact on a global scale.
