■ “I have the qualifications but no skills” and the number of coaches and counselors who are unable to earn money is increasing rapidly Coaching and industrial counseling are said to be a growing market. The number of qualification acquisition courses that cost more than 1 million yen is increasing, but the focus is only on “acquiring knowledge to obtain a qualification”, and the number of people who are “qualified but lack the skills” is increasing. Skills are the most important element in coaching and counseling, where interpersonal skills are more important than knowledge. Due to a lack of skills, mentees (those who receive coaching and counseling) do not return to work, and as a result, the number of coaches and counselors who are unable to earn money or find a job is rapidly increasing.
■Our research: 9 out of 10 coaches and counselors are unable to earn money Our company has been running a training business for coaches and counselors, but almost 100% of the people working at our company are people who have the qualifications but lack the skills and are unable to earn money. (97 out of 120 people who have applied so far have qualifications) Even people who have qualifications that are difficult to obtain, such as industrial counseling, are still worried about a lack of skills.

In order to sound the alarm on these blind spots in the
coach/counselor qualification business, we have decided to hold this event, “Coaching, Counseling, and Mentoring: Why You Can’t Earn Money Even After Getting Qualifications.” We will explain in an
easy-to-understand way the mechanism behind why you can’t earn money even after getting a qualification, what skills you need after all.

Qualification businesses such as mentoring, counseling, and coaching are increasing. I’m not denying the qualification business itself, but the method of “producing a large number of qualified people” is not suitable for this job. This is because the “individuality” of the mentor is important. Will the mentee open up to a mentor who applies the know-how that everyone has been taught uniformly like a textbook? does not open. Mentees open up when they feel close to their mentor. Friendliness is created when you sense the “individuality” of the other person. A mentor’s “individuality” is manifested in their casual conversations, how they sense the other person’s emotions, and their acting skills. In order to bring out the mentee’s true feelings, it is important to have the ability to act by changing tone, speed, and pauses to suit the mentee, but a mentor without individuality will not be able to do this. It’s the same principle that causes actors with no individuality to look the same no matter what role they play. Because they have individuality, they can see the distance between themselves and the role they are supposed to play, and can instantly find a suitable fit. In the qualification business, the focus is on getting qualifications efficiently and in the shortest possible time, so mentors do not develop the individuality of each mentor. As a result, you end up becoming a mentor who doesn’t get to know your mentee, who doesn’t talk to you about his true feelings, and who doesn’t have much to take home with you. As a result, it was only played once without being repeated. This is the reason why the number of mentors, coaches, and counselors who have qualifications but are unable to earn any money is increasing.
