The Otaru Canal 100 Years Project Executive Committee and the Otaru Tourism Association (Secretariat: 4-3 Minato-cho, Otaru City) will co-host the “Night Carnival” to mark the finale of the 100 years of the Otaru Canal.
In addition to food trucks, there will be an all-you-can-eat food and drink menu provided at the venue, special Christmas decorations, exciting stage planning, and a commemorative fireworks display in collaboration with Otaru Ushio Taiko for the finale.

Celebrate Otaru Canal’s 100th birthday with “Night Carnival” The Otaru Canal was completed on December 27, 1923. It may be a little early, but we will be celebrating our 100th birthday with a “Night Carnival” on December 23rd.
At the No. 3 Wharf area of Otaru Port, which runs from the Otaru Canal to the sea, there will be a special venue decorated with Christmas decorations, where you can enjoy stage productions such as live music by YOSAKOI Soran and local artists. The highlight of the event will be the commemorative fireworks and Otaru Ushio Taiko performance, scheduled to be launched from 7pm on the day. In addition to 15 food trucks, there will also be an all-you-can-eat food and beverage menu provided at the venue! (*Some menus have a fee.) We will also be handing out sweets as a small Christmas present from LeTAO, a very popular western confectionery shop in Otaru.

Admission fee: Limited to 1000 people, advance ticket 5,000 yen, same-day ticket 6,000 yen (*Applications must be accepted in advance and paid on the day)
*Elementary school students and younger (accompanied by a guardian) Advance tickets: 2,500 yen; Same-day tickets: 3,000 yen
*Free for children under 2 years old (*Up to 1 child per adult) *There is no parking lot at the venue, so please use public transportation. *On the day of the event, vehicle traffic will be restricted around the venue for safety management reasons.

Enjoy the Christmas spirit at the special venue
We will welcome you with Christmas-like decorations such as the Canal 100th Anniversary Monument and illuminations. In addition to the 4t stage car, 15 kitchen cars are scheduled to appear, and there will also be tents offering food and drink menus. Although the event will take place at night during the coldest months, we will have plenty of “warming spots” available.
Inside the special venue, you can enjoy collaborations between fireworks and drums, stage events, and an all-you-can-eat food and drink menu! We are planning to offer Genghis Khan, mega marshmallows, mulled wine, hot cocoa, hot sake, premium malts (Suntory), taco hai (Suntory), and more.
