International standards regarding emissions regulations related to automobile driving are being developed, and electrification is attracting attention as an effective means of preventing global warming. On the other hand, as it becomes necessary to calculate and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases throughout the entire “life cycle” from resource extraction to manufacturing and even scrapping, it has become necessary to process and recycle scrapped vehicles at the time of vehicle design. Calculations that include these are now required. To this end, recycling not only metals, which have traditionally been recycled, but also resin components has become an important issue.
Within the EU, we are working on recycling by setting common target values. At present, packaging-related target values have been set for resins, but the automobile industry is also working to reuse resins from the design stage in line with basic policies.
