~I want to convey the importance of hand washing to many children~ ……
Kao Corporation (President: Yoshihiro Hasebe) has recently created a hygiene habit-formation program, “Let’s all do it together for special needs schools*1.” From December 4, 2023, we will introduce this program to schools for children with disabilities across the country*1 and begin accepting applications on the Kao website. *1 Special support school (intellectual disability)

At Kao, we created teaching materials for the “Let’s all wash our hands” hygiene habit program in 2021, with the hope that people will have fun learning how to wash their hands properly and acquire hygienic habits. Currently, it is used in 58%*2 of elementary schools nationwide (approximately 11,000 schools), 73%*2 of schools for the deaf nationwide, and 86%*2 of schools for the blind nationwide. *2 As of November 2023
Now, with the hope that infants and children with intellectual disabilities will also learn hygienic habits, we have created hand-washing materials. When creating teaching materials, we take into account the opinions of teachers and incorporate various ideas to help children learn how to properly wash their hands in a fun way. For example, the slide materials use black-and-white inverted text that is easier for children to read and less tiring. We used many simple illustrations to promote visual understanding. In addition, by showing “skillful techniques” in easy-to-understand terms, we make it easy to learn. Kao will continue to promote the understanding of hygienic awareness, such as “Maintaining one’s own hygiene maintains the hygiene of society (those around us)” by providing hygiene
habit-formation programs that respond to changes in society. We will work on activities to develop the next generation to deepen children’s knowledge, develop their “zest for life,” and cultivate their “ability to solve problems.” Hygiene habituation program “Let’s all take care of it for special needs schools*1” Overview*1 Special needs schools (intellectual disabilities)
