Born in 1949. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo. Joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1971. Became president of the company in 2010 and chairman in 2016. In November 2022, he will be appointed Chairman of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Advisor to the Bank of Japan. In December of the same year, he became chairman of the Japan Committee of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Council (the secretariat is the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry). In 2023, he will become chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprise Policy Council of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency.
