In response to the feedback from many customers, the products sold to commemorate the opening of the Kinokuniya Iwataya main store will also be sold at the official Kinokuniya online store.

To commemorate the opening of the Iwataya main store in Fukuoka, Kinokuniya has officially released a double-named bag with the long-established Kyoto store “Shinsaburo Ichizawa Hanpu”, which was sold only at the Iwataya Mitsukoshi online store (limited to MI Card Plus members). We have also started selling at our online store. The sale was made possible in response to the voices of many customers who wanted to purchase it at Kinokuniya.

Kinokuniya will celebrate its 70th anniversary as a supermarket in 2023. On November 28, 1953, we opened in Aoyama, Tokyo as “Japan’s first self-service supermarket where customers select their own products and pay at the register”.
We would like to once again express our gratitude to all our customers, as we have been able to reach our 70th anniversary thanks to the continued support of our customers.
This project was also realized in collaboration with Shinzaburo Ichizawa Hanpu based on our desire to create products that people can use and use for a long time. Each bag is a special bag with the “70th Anniversary of the Supermarket” logo and the woven name “Shinsaburo Ichizawa Hanpu” sewn on.
