There is a much talked about ramen shop that opened on October 17th of this year in Kita Ward, Kyoto City.
The ramen shop is “Ramen Nakazawa” (https://www.instagram.com/ramen_nakazawa/) We interviewed the store manager, Mr. Nakazawa, about the process leading up to the opening.

Q: What made you decide to open a ramen shop?
A: My passion for ramen began during the summer of my senior year in high school.
After retiring from baseball, I started working part-time at a ramen shop at the recommendation of a friend, which opened up a new path in my life.

Mr. Nakazawa was selected as a store manager at the age of 21, and was fascinated by the depth of ramen, and eventually decided to “dedicate his life to ramen.” After supporting the opening of ramen shops in Toyama Prefecture and Tokyo and working as a manager, “Ramen Nakazawa” was born as his culmination.
Q: What circumstances and feelings made you decide on this vacant property? A: Searching for a property for the opening was not easy.
We were introduced to a number of retail tenants in Kitayama, Higashinotoin Ayanokoji, Higashiyama Shichijo, and Saiin, but the rent was high and construction work was not possible, so it was difficult to get any success.
Just when I was about to give up, I found my current property. The moment I found it, I instinctively thought, “This is it!” The property is located near Ritsumeikan University, which is visited by many young people.
It was a perfect location where we can expect the number of tourists to increase after the coronavirus.
I had imagined that the rent would be high because it was in a good location, but since it had been vacant for many years, I was able to rent it at a surprisingly low price.
