EO Osaka (operated by EO ALL KANSAI, a general incorporated
association), which belongs to the EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization), a network of young entrepreneurs from around the world, will be hosting YOLO BASE (Osaka) on November 27th (Monday). Japan’s largest student entrepreneur pitch contest, “GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Award)”, was held in Osaka (Naniwa Ward, Ichi).

The GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Award) is a pitch contest for student entrepreneurs sponsored by the world’s largest entrepreneurial organization, EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization). Starting this year, six regional qualifying rounds will be held: Osaka, Kyoto, Kanto, Tohoku, Hokkaido, Kyushu/Okinawa. The students who make it through the regional preliminary rounds will advance to the Japan tournament to be held in Osaka on February 17th. The top winners at the Japanese competition will participate in the world competition held in Singapore from April to June, where they will compete with student entrepreneurs from over 50 countries.

In November 2022, the Kishida Cabinet announced the “Five-Year Plan for Fostering Startups” (Five-Year Plan), which aims to foster startups as one of the pillars of “new capitalism” and as a driver of the revitalization of the Japanese economy. We are promoting initiatives.
Entrepreneurial education is important to create a foundation for increasing the number of people who want to start a business, but the reality is that the percentage of student entrepreneurs in Japan is still low compared to other startup-developed countries. EO has held the “GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Award)” every year since 2014 in order to produce startups from student entrepreneurs as part of the startup development ecosystem, and this year marks the 10th time. Previous winners of the Japan competition include Osamu Iizuka of Medmain Co., Ltd., which is the first venture from Kyushu University’s Entrepreneurship Department and develops pathological image diagnosis software using deep learning, and Forbes JAPAN magazine. SAgri Co., Ltd., which was selected as one of the “30 Japanese under 30 who are changing the world”, provides applications that agriculturally optimize agriculture using unique technology using satellite data and agricultural data. Mr. Shunsuke Tsuboi of the company, Mr. Ogawa Rei of Timey Co., Ltd., who developed the Sukima Byte app that allows you to start working immediately without the need for applications or interviews, and raised a total of 27.3 billion yen in the four years since the service was launched. We have achieved significant growth as a venture company while attracting the attention of many people. At this Osaka conference, the following five student entrepreneurs and two future students gave presentations. The judges were four members who have served as past presidents of EO Osaka (including the incoming president), and asked questions and comments to the student
entrepreneurs who gave presentations.

As a result of a strict examination by four EO Osaka members, Takeforest Co., Ltd.’s representative director Kosei Takemori took first place, and PACES Co., Ltd. representative director Lee Joon-oh took second place. These two athletes will advance to the Japan tournament to be held in Osaka on February 17th. Finalists from Kanto, Kyoto, Tohoku, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Okinawa (9 people in total) will compete for a ticket to the world tournament to be held in Singapore from April to June.
