The Umi to Oma Future Creation Team arouses interest in the local ocean and protects the richness of the ocean through the experience of handling, cooking and eating locally produced white fish,
“Candlestick Hokke”. In order to foster the desire to take action for the sake of the people’s interests, we collaborated with Okudo Elementary School in Oma Town to hold an event called “Let’s judge and learn about the future of the sea!” on November 28th. I did. (*Waidaji = us)
This event is part of the Nippon Foundation’s “Ocean and Japan Project,” which connects people through the ocean in order to pass on the rich and beautiful ocean to the next generation.

Impressions from participating children and teachers
・I made Hokke cutlet curry from scratch for the first time in a while. Since we were able to make it deliciously ourselves, we would like to make it deliciously at home as well. (Participating children) ・It was very difficult to cut the hockey. The person in charge taught me in an easy-to-understand manner and I was able to do it very well. I want to cook fish at home too. (Participating children)
・I learned that it is becoming harder to catch fish year by year, so I wanted to eat fish and support people involved in the fishing industry. (Participating children)
・I am grateful that I was able to gain valuable experience through careful one-on-one guidance. Through this activity, I felt that I want my children to grow up to be able to cherish the ocean in front of them and handle fish. (Participating teachers)
