1. Overall picture of digital human resource development
JR East has been working to improve company-wide DX literacy with the aim of various business innovations and new value creation. In order to promote DX, we have created an environment in which all employees will have a tablet device by 2019 and can use the installed apps to solve business issues. As a result, many front-line employees are already working on various business improvements using digital technology.
In order to make the most of this environment and accelerate DX, by the end of fiscal 2027, we will have approximately 25,000 “basic” human resources who can process data and create business documents using digital tools, and further solve business issues using digital technology. We will develop approximately 5,000 “middle” personnel who will carry out the DX strategy, and approximately 200 “experts” who will formulate and implement DX strategies, oversee operations, and fundamentally transform operations. By promoting the development of diverse digital human resources for all employees, we will lead to various business innovations and new value creation, and we have over 2,000 people registered as digital promotion committee members (registered by appointment by the Digital Agency). We will deepen our collaboration with local communities using digital technology, including efforts by our employees and others.

In order to promote the appropriate utilization of generated AI in the JR East Group, we established the “JR East Group Generated AI Utilization Guidelines” in November. In addition, we have built a chat system “JRE AI Chat” that utilizes generated AI for JR East internal use, and have begun trial use in October.
