Research background Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that occurs in men and women from their teens to their 30s. The cause of acne is the build-up of old stratum corneum, which becomes a plug, which clogs the pores, causing excessive sebum to accumulate in the pores, which feeds on the sebum and the bacteria that live in the pores, Prop. acnes. It occurs when Cutibacterium acnes (Cutibacterium acnes) proliferates and causes inflammation. At our company, we focus on P. acnes, which is the cause of acne, and are conducting daily research to improve the bactericidal effect of P. acnes.In August 2023, we discovered that a heparin-like substance has the effect of increasing the effectiveness of
bactericides against P. acnes. We are discovering this*. Recently, it has been found that there are many acne bacteria in the keratin plugs of people with acne. We have established a method for evaluating acne bacteria sterilization.

Research results
1. There are many acne bacteria in the keratin plugs of people who suffer from acne.
P. acnes, one of the causes of acne, is a bacteria that exists on the skin as a resident bacteria, and is known to exist in large numbers on the skin of people who are prone to acne. This time, we newly discovered that there are bacteria in the keratin plugs that clog pores, and acne bacteria accounts for over 90% of the bacteria in the keratin plugs of people who are prone to acne (Figure 1). ·Figure 2). It was shown that there are many acne bacteria in the keratin plugs of people who are prone to acne, and it is necessary to sterilize not only the acne bacteria on the skin but also the acne bacteria hidden inside the keratin plugs.
