■Community-based initiatives utilizing eat-in space
FamilyMart will use the eat-in space of FamilyMart stores as an exhibition space to display paintings that have rarely been seen by people in the past, giving it an opportunity to be known by local people and to become a part of the community. We will support people with disabilities to live active lives.

Comment from Toshiya Kakiuchi, President and CEO of Mirairo Co., Ltd. [Image 4
FamilyMart aims to be a “convenience store that leaves no one behind.” As someone with a disability, I have high expectations. Increasing the number of people who come into contact with artworks by people with disabilities in eat-in spaces will change the perspective of local communities and become an opportunity to move closer to a more inclusive society. I hope that initiatives like this will spread to FamilyMart stores across the country, that the perspectives, experiences, and sensibilities of people with disabilities will be fully utilized, and that barriers will become value.
■Profile of Toshiya Kakiuchi
He advocated “barrier value,” which turns disability into value, and established Mirairo Co., Ltd. while attending university. We have started a universal design business that is comfortable for everyone, including the elderly and people with disabilities, and provide design supervision, product development, and education training that incorporates the perspective of people with disabilities. In addition, we are developing various businesses aimed at realizing DEI, such as “Mirairo ID”, which digitizes disability certificates.
