The names of the performers have already been announced: Osamu Kitayama, Kumiko, Konosuke Sakazaki, Jiro Sugita, Satoshi Hayashibe, and Takeshi Matsuyama, but it has been decided that the “folk god” Nobuyasu Okabayashi will be appearing. “Concerts of those wonderful songs once again” have been held since 2018 with the concept of “artists and the audience enjoying the masterpieces and hits that colored the era.” The title of this performance comes from the 1971 blockbuster song “That Wonderful Love Once Again,” a folk song song written by Kitayama and composed by Kazuhiko Kato. Since it will be held in Osaka, performers who can be said to be Kitayama’s allies will be rushing in, including Konosuke Sakazaki, Jiro Sugita from the Kansai region, and Takeshi Matsuyama, who wrote and translated the lyrics for “Returning Yopparai” and “Imjin River.” Also, it has been decided that Nobuyasu Okabayashi will be appearing. Nobuyasu Okabayashi made his record debut in 1968 with “Sanya Blues,” and released songs with strong messages such as “Tomoyo” and “Tegami.” Ta. Kitayamato, who became a darling of the times as a member of “The Folk Crusaders,” and Okabayashi, a singer-songwriter known as the “god of folk,” were born in the same year, 1946. They met at the Kansai folk scene 55 years ago, and each has been active at their own pace. On November 19, 2023, this year, on the radio special program “Nobuyasu Okabayashi and Osamu Kitayama, Friend, on this journey ~55 years of each~”, the two sat down and talked at length for the first time in a while. We talked about being called the “god of folk,” “Kansai folk,” and even his ally Kazuhiko Kato. Regarding the song, Okabayashi said, “My songs are my personal novels.I recently realized that I am an amateur singer because I can only sing about things that happened to me and what I really felt.” There are also scenes where Since Kitayama is a psychiatrist, he was able to bring out
Okabayashi’s humanity in their talk. The talk was lively during the program, and the two were talkative, but this is the first time in about half a century that Okabayashi and Tayama have appeared on the same stage in Kansai. Singing, talks, sessions…you’ll be able to see performances that can only be seen in the local Kansai region. We hope you will experience and enjoy this one-day special performance created by rare artists who are loved by many and transcend generations and genres.
