Restored the appearance of the ancient tomb at the time it was built. Located in a vast tea plantation, the stone roof and neatly lined clay clay figures are a sight to behold.
The historical site Wadaoka Tumulus Group is a group of burial mounds built in the middle of the Kofun period (approximately 1600 to 1500 years ago), and is located on the river terrace formed by the Haranotani River that flows through the northwestern part of Kakegawa City. The people buried in the four keyhole-shaped tombs and one round tomb are said to be the graves of the chieftains who ruled this area, and were designated as a national historic site in 1991 as a group of precious tombs.

Yoshioka Otsuka Tumulus was found to have a total length of 54.6 m, a rear circle diameter of 41.3 m, and a height of 7 m, according to excavation research conducted before construction. I knew that the haniwa shapes were lined up. The maintenance work is based on the results of excavations, and a part of the south side of the tumulus has been restored to its appearance when it was constructed, with stone tiles and clay clay stones installed. Only the shape of the other parts was restored. The northern part of the tumulus has been preserved in its current form. By comparing the south and north sides of the tumulus, you can feel the passage of time from the time the tumulus was constructed to the present day.
The 24 cylindrical clay figures installed were made by citizens. In addition, since stones from Harano Tanikawa were collected and used for the roofing stones during the construction of the tumulus, stones from Harano Tanikawa were also used for this maintenance.
The tea fields surrounding the ancient tomb are vast, and the view is spectacular. Please wake me up.
