In recent years, the use of ICT in the healthcare field has progressed rapidly, and the traditional closed network between pharmacies, medical institutions, patients, medical insurers, and governments is no longer the same, centered on national medical information platforms such as online qualification confirmation and electronic
prescriptions. Increasingly, connections to external networks are required.
Along with this, since 2018, against the backdrop of cyber-attacks on medical systems and increased use of computers in pharmacies, we are no longer in an era where it is safe to simply disconnect from the internet. Cybersecurity risks confront pharmacists and pharmacy staff in the form of malicious attackers, human error, and technical issues. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has mandated cybersecurity measures as a compass for safely navigating this new wave.
Additionally, individual training requirements for pharmacies now include this measure, making cybersecurity a part of daily operations. This seminar will provide you with the knowledge and skills to overcome the rough waters of the digital age. First, understand your current cybersecurity risks and assess their impact. We then explore which security measures are mandatory, which ones should be
prioritized further, and suggest practical solutions.
