“Traveling Volunteers” is a journey that involves traveling for 3 nights and 4 days, meeting local people and issues, and returning home having made the world a little bit better. Participants must be 25 years old or younger, and travel expenses are free. The fourth destination is Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Kumejima, Okinawa Prefecture.

What is a traveling volunteer?
This project started in the summer of 2022 with the idea of “giving all young people an experience that expands the world.” During the 3-night, 4-day trip, participants will experience nature, eat local cuisine, and enjoy the charm of the area while participating in volunteer activities along the way. Participants are limited to 25 years old, and not only students but also working adults participate. Together with friends of different ages, origins, and affiliations, you can help local farmers with their harvest, help organize festivals and events, and participate in local activities. Through interacting with people and doing volunteer work, you will encounter new things about yourself and the world. The first phase will be held in September 2022 in Wakkanai, Hokkaido and Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, and the second will be in Kumejima in Okinawa and Yamakoshi in Niigata Prefecture in February and March 2023. The third round was held in September 2023 in Wakkanai, Hokkaido, Yoron Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. Reports from Parts 1 to 3 and the voices of participants are available on a special website. https://tabi-vo.jp/#archives

Nippon Foundation Volunteer Center Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (Nippon Foundation Borasen) Overview
The Nippon Foundation Borasen was established in 2010 as the NPO Japan Student Volunteer Center and began supporting student volunteer activities, with the goal of reaching more than 12,000 students in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake by March 2022. I have been dispatched. In 2022, the name will be changed to the Nippon Foundation Volunteer Center, a public interest incorporated
foundation, and we are implementing volunteer-related projects for a wide range of generations, not just students. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we were involved in volunteer training and other development projects, and since then we have also dispatched volunteers to large-scale events such as the 2023 WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC(TM) and supported volunteer organizations.
