Introducing ships and harbor sites to students at Ho Chi Minh Japanese School Supporting activities that serve as a bridge between Japan and Vietnam ……
On November 28th, we held a social studies field trip (hereinafter referred to as the “book field trip”) to introduce 48 junior high school students from Ho Chi Minh Japanese School in Vietnam to the work of ships and ports.
This tour is part of the “Children’s Social Studies Tour,” a project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam, in which our company participates as a partner. The purpose is to tour Japan-related facilities in Vietnam that you cannot normally see and learn about the connection with Japan. The tour included a tour of the trade port (Saigon Premier Container Terminal) that connects Japan and Vietnam, and a preliminary lecture on the work and life of the seafarers who support trade. The children who participated asked questions such as “How many ships enter and depart from Japan each day?” and “How many years does it take to study to become a seafarer?” and the children deepened their understanding of the shipping industry and the ties between Japan and Vietnam. I was able to deepen my understanding. Our company will convey the appeal of the shipping industry and the work of seafarers to children, who will be responsible for the next generation, and will support activities that serve as a bridge between Japan and Vietnam.
