Appliv TOPICS, operated by Nile Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Hito Takahashi, hereinafter referred to as Nile), targeted 1,880 men and women aged 20-69 from December 5th to 12th, 2023. We conducted a survey on Black Friday during the 11th day of the month.
■Survey results “Appliv TOPICS” conducted a survey regarding Black Friday targeting 1,880 men and women between the ages of 20 and 69 through an internet survey service.
Awareness of Black Friday sales: Amazon 86.9%, Rakuten Market 76.5%. 43.5% of people who shopped on Black Friday shopped on Amazon and 29.7% on Rakuten Market.
The most popular items purchased on Black Friday are “daily
necessities,” “grocery,” “computers/peripherals,” and “home
appliances.”
“Clothing” and “Furniture/Interior” are more popular on Rakuten Market than on Amazon.
The amount spent on Black Friday is often “5,000 to 9,999 yen” and “10,000 to 19,999” on both Amazon and Rakuten Market.
Amazon outperforms Rakuten Market for spending less than 3,000 yen. Rakuten Market tends to outperform Amazon in the amount range of 40,000 yen or more.
