Biwako Hotel New Year event information
~Enjoy the start of 2024 with “local blessings”~
……
Biwako Hotel (Location: Hamacho, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, General Manager: Yoshikazu Maeda) will be holding various events to mark the start of a new year.
On January 1st (Monday/holiday) and 2nd (Tuesday), the heroic sound of “Ogi Taiko” will celebrate the new year in the hotel lobby. We will prepare “mochi pounding” and “behavior sake” to wish you a healthy and happy year. The 5th floor banquet hall “Biwako” has a corner where you can enjoy events unique to the New Year, such as serving tea and amazake, and starting calligraphy. The temple on the 3rd floor, which is normally used as a venue for Shinto wedding ceremonies, will be transformed into a New Year’s visit venue and welcome guests after 9pm on New Year’s Eve. Please spend a joyful time at Biwako Hotel. [Image 1
“Megumi of the Lake Country” celebrates the New Year
During the rice cake pounding, we will use traditional pestles and mortars to pound rice grown in Ogi’s rice terraces with the
cooperation of local producers. For sake, we offer Haginoro, a representative brand from Takashima City Fukui Yahei Shoten, the brewer of Biwako Hotel’s original local sake, Satoyama, which uses terraced rice. In addition, we will have a selection of products unique to the Lake Country, such as ice-brewed tea from Japan’s oldest teahouse, Shigaraki Asamiya, and amazake from Shiga Prefecture’s branded rice, “Mizukagami.”
