About a month after the start of the “Historical Real Mystery Solving Game in Shogi Town Takatsuki “Takatsuki Castle and the Secrets of the Tokugawa Family,” which is one of the experiential exchange tourism programs “Open Takatsuki”, 250 groups have already participated. It is gaining popularity and participation.

This 6th installment focuses on “Shogi,” which is connected to Takatsuki City, and “Takatsuki in the Edo period,” where the Tokugawa family ruled the world. We visited 12 checkpoints, including the Takatsuki City Shiroato History Museum, where you can see original shogi pieces excavated from the Sannomaru ruins of Takatsuki Castle, where samurai residences were located during the Edo period, and the castle town of Takatsuki. We will uncover the secrets of Takatsuki Castle, which was the base of the Tokugawa army during the final decisive battle, the Osaka Winter Siege.
Open Takatsuki started in 2016 and offers a wide range of experiential and exchange-type tourism programs unique to Takatsuki, such as experiences that expose you to history and culture, factory tours of local companies, and special lunches that make use of seasonal ingredients. The tourism event has attracted approximately 20,000 visitors so far. The puzzle-solving game was designed to allow participants to experience Takatsuki’s history and culture while enjoying a walk around the city.

Participants in the mystery-solving game received a “mystery-solving kit” and moved to checkpoints throughout the city. The Takatsuki Castle Park Arts and Culture Theater, which opened in March of this year, is one of the settings for the mystery-solving, and the game progresses while solving the mysteries based on the background of the theater, which was built on the ruins of Takatsuki Castle’s Ninomaru. We have received positive feedback from participants, such as, “I was able to learn more about Takatsuki’s history while enjoying solving mysteries.”
