“Butterfly,” one of the keywords for this exhibition, has a compound eye structure consisting of tens of thousands of small eyes. The countless tiny points of light seen by those countless tiny eyes create a mosaic-like image, similar to reality glimpsed from different dimensions. In this exhibition, the world reflected through each artist’s “multiple eyes”, including age and national borders, traditional creative fields and digital expression, will be
transmitted to the world from SOMSOC GALLERY, a transmission base located in the center of Harajuku, Tokyo. .

The works of Daibishu, which combine oriental religion and cyber technology, shine brightly in the field of Chinese avant-garde art, and are said to be representative of a new generation of young artists in China. Taipei Universe has attracted attention with its “Future Buddha” series, and has also released “Text DNA Project” and “Virtual Butterfly”, forming a large online community in China. ing. [Image 7
Taipei Universe was one of the first digital artists to be featured at an auction house, and his work A Poetic Beach sold for $140,000 at Sotheby’s auction, making history in Chinese digital art. engraved his name on.

He exhibited 100 “Future Buddhas” in Shanghai, and his work, which combines the latest music and Buddhism, caused a sensation. In addition, he spent two years using a generative adversarial network he developed to create one million “virtual butterflies,” which were unveiled at the Aiiii Art Center, the world’s first art museum dedicated to AI art. It caused a big stir.

▼About the Great Tragedy Universe
In Buddhism, “great compassion” is written as “Mahakarna” in Sanskrit, and represents a strong sense of empathy and compassion that, like the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, desires to save all suffering sentient beings from suffering. Chinese Buddhism has the concept of four great bodhisattvas, each with their primary vows of “wisdom, compassion, action, and vow.” More than 10 years ago, a then 20-year-old young man, Lin Hao, was thinking of a “code name” as an artist, and he chose one of these four words and fused it with the word “universe.”
“Great sadness” is a code representing ancient religion, and “universe” is a code representing science and the future, and the reason why he combined these two words is also very clear. He vowed to somehow fuse these two concepts in his future works.

▼About “Future Buddha”
The Buddhist tradition of Xiamen City in Fujian Province had a great influence on the author. In 2008, Taibi Cosmos studied game art and digital content creation in Shanghai, and in 2010, he began studying jade carving in Guangdong Province to better understand Buddhist culture. It took him nine months to finally complete the jade Buddha to his satisfaction, and in a sense it was his first and last Buddha statue. After experiencing the realistic creation of jade carving, Daibi-shu completely abandoned handicrafts and began to focus on digital art. After that, “Future Buddha” was created, a fusion of Buddhism and cyberpunk.

▼About “Virtual Butterfly”
Arithmetic algorithms are important tools when creating the Great Tragic Universe, and when the artist’s imagination and independence are successfully combined with the algorithms, new worlds and perspectives open up.
In September 2020, Daihi Universe began generating virtual butterflies using a generative adversarial network. More than 2 million virtual butterflies, no two with the same design, tell the story of the artist’s unique aesthetics and message. This means that by creating things virtually, we can extend the lifespan of human civilization, which is limited in the dimension of time. The Great Tragedy Universe is dreaming of an endless dream of a digital future.
A generative adversarial network is a self-evolving AI calculation matrix that is characterized by a set of algorithms forming a special generative model. Given the basic data, the generator system part starts simulating the data, and the other discriminator system part oversees the process. The discriminator system compares the simulation results with the model and determines whether the requirements are met. In the end, they are selected by the Great Tragedy Universe and the computer, and many virtual butterflies are created.
