*Survey method: Among the categories purchased from January 1st to November 30th, 2023 on “Mercari”, we will extract those that have a large difference in the number of purchases in 2022.

The most trending word in 2023 was the Korean boy group “ZEROBASEONE,” followed by “Samurai Japan,” which won the 2023 WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC(TM).
Words related to Korean boy groups accounted for 35% of the top 50 words such as “RIIZE,” “FREEFALL,” and “HEAVEN,” making it possible to feel the excitement of Korean entertainment in 2023.
In addition, there are many words related to goods that were popular this year, such as Sanrio, Chiikawa, and Tamagotchi. You can see how fans are enjoying “supporting” a wide range of targets on “Mercari” while exchanging goods with each other.
Approximately 70% of flea market service users now have experience buying and selling Oshikatsu goods*1, and the phenomenon known as the “Oshikatsu circular society” phenomenon is reflected in this year’s trend word map.
