The Middle East issue cannot be treated as one thing: Palestine seen from the perspective of child support Friday, January 12th [Tokyo] Online broadcast of interactions between users and NPO staff ……
Consumers’ Cooperative Association Pal System Tokyo (Headquarters: Okubo, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Reiko Matsuno) will hold a “Night Peace Cafe” at its Shinjuku headquarters on Friday, January 12th from 6:00 p.m., and will stream it online. We heard from the staff of JIM-NET (Japan Iraq Medical Support Network) (Headquarters:
Takadanobaba, Shinjuku-ku, Representative Yoshinori Ikezumi), which supports medical care for children mainly in Iraq, about the situation in Palestine from the perspective of neighboring Iraq, and learned about each culture. I think about values, and the importance of peace. The Middle East situation makes it difficult to “understand” each other Ryohei Saito and Takatoshi Hasegawa of JIM-NET will tell us about the issues behind the fighting in Palestine and the Gaza Strip. JIM-JET supports children who have developed childhood cancer or leukemia due to the effects of radiation from depleted uranium bombs used in the war in Iraq. Even 20 years after the war, Saito and Hasegawa learned through their work supporting children who are victims of the invisible scars left by nuclear weapons and refugees from the civil war that continues in neighboring Syria. It conveys the current situation of people who are deprived of their “daily life.”
Although Israel is not adjacent to Iraq, the victims of air strikes in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, are children and civilians who were going about their daily lives. In order to stop the chain of retaliation and violence that continues in the Middle East and other parts of the world without accepting each other’s culture and values, we need to create opportunities for understanding that is not just one thing, and build peace through “mutual understanding.” I think about it. Peace donations by users
Pal System Tokyo is calling on its users to make a “Peace Campaign,” which aims to support children around the world living in diverse situations. You can donate to organizations that support children who have been deprived of educational opportunities and healthy lifestyles due to conflicts and political instability caused by adults in Palestine, Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc. Donations are solicited from July to August every year and are used for support activities by various organizations. In fiscal 2023, a total of 6,658,389 yen was collected and donated to 7 organizations including JIM-NET.
Pal System Tokyo will continue to work together with our users to view the various issues that occur in the world as our own, and aim for a peaceful society.
