……
We are pleased to announce that Noritomi Iron Works Co., Ltd. (Yanagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture), a water gate manufacturer in Kyushu, has started selling “Mesh Pan”, a mesh frying pan made of woven stainless steel specifically for direct grilling, from December 21st (Thursday).

Direct-fire cooking is a cooking method in which excess oil is removed by roasting food directly over a fire, and the food is smoked with flame and smoke to create a fragrant finish. However, direct flame cooking also has the disadvantage that it is difficult to adjust the temperature of the heat, making it difficult to cook delicate ingredients such as fried rice and yakisoba. Mesh pans have a fine mesh, so you can not only cook with fine ingredients, but also roast and smoke them.
“If you have this item, the possibilities for outdoor cooking will expand greatly.”

Features of “mesh pan”
1. Overcoming the drawbacks of open flame cooking
By using a fine mesh, it is now possible to cook not only meat and vegetables, but also noodles and rice over an open flame, which was impossible with a mesh. Excess fat will be removed, resulting in a much healthier dish. Also, since it has a handle, you can cook while watching the heat level.

2. Can be roasted with straw and smoked
Straw grilling allows you to bake at high temperatures all at once. By grilling with straw in a mesh pan, you can bring out the flavor of the ingredients while adding the aroma of straw to the food. You can also smoke it if you have smoke chips. Place the smoked chips on your mestin or skillet and cover with a mesh pan to complete the base. All you have to do is add your favorite ingredients and close the lid. Smoked food has a unique flavor and aroma, and even simple ingredients can greatly improve the quality of your dishes.

3. The mesh part is removable and easy to clean.
The mesh part is removable, so if it breaks after long-term use, you can replace it with a mesh sheet (sold separately). To clean it, simply apply detergent to a hard sponge or scrubber and scrub it thoroughly. The key point is that the mesh surface is flat, making it easy to wash. The mesh sheet is made of stainless steel called “SUS304”, which is used for water gates. We use mesh with the same wire diameter as Yokonagamesh Takibidai, which recorded 250 hours in the mesh durability test.
*Although the mesh sheet is made of highly durable material, it may tear after long-term use. If a tear occurs, please use a mesh pan replacement mesh (sold separately).

Fire-grilled meat
Until now, Norinori Life has been creating products around bonfires that take advantage of the properties of stainless steel, which is resistant to heat and rust. The development of the mesh pan began as a “cooking utensil to make bonfires more enjoyable” unique to Norinori Life. While trying various things such as cast iron plates and stainless steel plates, when I tried grilling meat on the mesh used in Norinori Life’s popular product “Yokonagamesh Takibidai”, the excess fat dripped off and it was very good. I found it to be healthy. After that, I worked with product designer Takashi Seki (GateLightDesign), who also serves as the creative director of Norinori Life, to develop ideas for cooking over open flames, such as attaching a handle like a frying pan since it is difficult to control the heat, and making the mesh replaceable to make it more eco-friendly and long-lasting. We developed the product over a period of about two years by finalizing the specifications, such as making it usable for a certain period of time, and repeating prototyping and testing.
Reactions on SNS after the information was lifted
Before the release of the mesh pan, we released information on X (formerly Twitter), which received a lot of feedback and attracted attention.
Below are excerpts from the comments we received.

A post when information was lifted on X (old Twitter)
I see! I didn’t have that idea!
I had a quick hit in bed with a hangover. I want to use it quickly! seems interesting. Frying pans are heavy and I don’t feel like carrying them around, but what about this?
It’s really good. It may seem like a simple idea at first glance, but it is a product that captures the frustrations of customers. Amazing I want it no matter how many times I look at it.I don’t do any outdoor activities, but I want to give it as a present to someone who loves the outdoors with a smug look on their face.
It looks interesting as an alternative to the traditional wire mesh.I’m going to pre-order the large mesh pan!
It seems easy to make fluffy fried rice.
Now you can cook local chicken over an open fire! ! I have a feeling that a new dish will be born!
